How has the war impacted your sense of value? "I had an established and healthy church and a home for my family. Then, we had to abandon it all and flee. I went from this (hands outstretched) expression of value and purpose - to this (hands describing small box)."
"In the midst of chaos, we need these reminders that our value and identity is from God and nothing can destroy it."
"Thanks for coming to Ukraine despite the war . . . We wait for your return."
Where words sometimes fail, visual expression speaks the emotions of the heart.
I explained the project to the women: a wall hanging that would preserve a treasured part of the life they were forced to leave behind . . . a creation to hang in their new homes that would become a way to share memories with family and friends . . . an image from their heart that need not be destroyed. When I finished the intro, I asked if there were any questions.
From one table - the response: "WHEN CAN WE START?"
God calls us to Himself through His creation. These families were grateful for the encouragement to "slow down" and take time to see God's beauty even when the world seems out of control.
The parents responded: "I felt a sense of peace when I entered the forest simply to breathe and enjoy God's presence."
The children discovered the ability to put their discoveries onto paper and enjoyed
the intentional time with family:
"Papa, we must do this every day."
This group of clergy met to have difficult conversations. In this world, with absence of truth, justice, and Godly thinking, how do we live out our faith as leaders?
"This training was so relevant for us. My thinking has been sharpened. I thought I was alone in these concerns."
You are seen.
You are known.
You are loved.
These women were happy to hear this message and to spend time together talking about life in ministry.
